Force Girls
Does anyone personally recommend the Air Force for girls?
I’m a 21 year old girl that is looking to join the airforce. Does anybody have any personal info that might help my decision either way. I want to join but I don’t know how it ACTUALLY is because I don’t know girls that have done it, and I know THEY will tell anyone anything to get you to sign so…help?
I joined when I was 22 and spent six years in – just separated in February. It was the best decision I ever made – I had dropped out of college and had no direction and a crap job. Man, I joined the Air Force, met a million interesting people, was stationed in Europe and was able to visit Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Dublin … it was tough at times, but I had a blast. It’s really what you make of it.
Of course, I didn’t want to join at first – I was thinking “ew, the military.” And everyone around me was like, “You? The military?!” I was artsy, too sensitive, clumsy, I hated to run and had no self discipline. The Air Force really teaches you to be successful.
Yeah, it can be rough – like basic training and technical school – but it gets better. You may even end up with a crappy supervisor (not unlike the civilian world) but the good news is everyone moves every couple of years, so the inconvenience isn’t forever.
I never hurt for money, medical care was free, college classes were free … you just have to be committed to your own success. I think how much you accomplish will surprise you.
BTW, the Air Force has a much better quality of living than the other services, so you can’t go wrong there!
I loved it, and wouldn’t trade that experience for six years of civilian life working at a crappy job paying minimum wage. No way!
Now I have work experience and a degree … I really think it’s a great decision if it’s what you really, REALLY want for yourself.
